Callan Skimin, Conversations About Dreams Recycled 2019.
To fall into a dream is to translate your self from one reality into another. This shift creates slippages, inversions, and conjures unseen images. We might see a memory as an object. Can a gesture dream of being a photograph?
This body of work explores how the language of images responds to this approach to translation. As media and formats are reworked to suit new frameworks, what of them is left behind and what is gained? Like dreams, they begin to follow their own logic’s and form free associations, which in our waking hours are abstracted and bewildering.
